Membership of HOGG
Membership of HOGG is open to anyone interested in the history of geology.
Our membership is drawn from a wide range of backgrounds, some geological, some historical, others are artists, librarians, medical professionals, teachers and many another trade.
Although HOGG is affiliated to the Geological Society of London, we are an independent Group and you do not need to be a Fellow or Member of GSL or a geologist to join us.
HOGG organises an interesting programme of events, activities, field meetings, conferences, symposia and workshops.
-
- Members gain free admission to all our regular online talks, and discounted fees to conferences, symposia, field meetings and most other events.
- Members receive our magazine GeoHistories, published twice a year, plus regular HOGG Bulletins – issued every 6 weeks – which keeps members up-to-date with news of publications and events in the wider history of geology community.
- Members have access to the HOGG archive of past talks, conference abstracts and the HOGG Newsletters (published between 1994–2020).
- Members become part of a friendly network others interested in the history of geology, who readily lend experience and expertise.
- Being a member of HOGG gives support to our history of geology engagement in wider communities, across the U.K. and beyond, and you will learn what is happening ‘out there’.
